Conference

A number of multiplier events were organised in order to present the SWOT project results to potential stakeholders.

Multiplier Event - National conference in Portugal

Date: 12 Aug 2019
Location: Paredes, Portugal

The Multiplier Event was organized in Paredes, Portugal with the aim to present and discuss the results of the SWOT project as a mean to disseminate good practices in relating the school world to the work world, especially in what is related with internships and apprenticeships.

In the beginning we made a presentation about the objectives and partners that belong to SWOT project. After this topic we presented the 2 years work on the project and reached conclusions with a specific focus on the 2 Intellectual Outputs: Interview, Testimonials, Platform and the Guidleines.
In the end the participants had the opportunity to see the main videos with the most important information and testimonials of the target groups of the project.

Among the 27 participants were school staff, teachers, directors of schools and local entrepreneurs.

The participants seem amazed with so many work in a European Project and were interested in use the platform and the videos for work proposals.

Multiplier Event - National conference in Italy

Location: Firenze, Italy

The Multiplier Event was organized in Florence, Italy as a focus group to present the results of the intellectual products produced by the project to the target groups, involving trainers, teachers, companies and students, inviting participants and involving them in the discussion and reflections on how to improve learning experiences based on alternating school work and organizing internships, apprenticeships or alternating school and work at local, regional, national or transnational level in person or online.

Above all, they were invited to use all these tools and to join the platform.

There were 25 representatives of companies in the eno-gastronomy and tourism sector, of school and VET and of the prevention of accidents at work
After a general illustration on the importance of WBL and school-work alternation in Italy, the topics of the focus group were presented according to the agenda, namely:
The SWOT project for the promotion of Work Based Learning in eno-gastronomy and tourism sector;
Direct contact with companies: repository of Educational Video Interviews;
Implementation of school-work alternation: the guidelines
Some examples of video interviews were shown both as experiences of companies and as testimonials of direct experiences as well as students.
Some examples have also been illustrated with the Guidelines
In particular, the subject of WBL and school-work alternation regarding people with disabilities was addressed.
Evaluation forms were distributed for the Intellectual Outputs

All in participants showed interest in the project and there was a commitment to join the platform and to work in the school-to-work alternation and to develop partnerships between school managers and companies.

SWOT Multiplier Event - National conference in Bulgaria

Date: 26 Jun 2019
Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

31 participants took part in the event: 28 representatives of VET institutions and 4 companies (Gulbanis winery, Trimex, Bulmex and Concord).

The teachers and student come from professional schools in the field of economy, tourism, gastronomy and food industry. The company representatives were managers and people, responsible for the HR policies in the companies.

During the event the speakers from ZAT presented the Intellectual Outputs of the project – the video collection with didactic videos of students and company managers, guidelines for students, company managers, students, teachers and principals of vocational high schools, companies and decision-makers in the field of tourism, hospitality, eno-gastronomy.

Special attention was paid to the didactic quality of the video library – a representative list of videos of companies and students from all partner countries was shown to the participants. Time was also dedicated to the presentation of the SWOT platform and its functionality. Gulbanis winery made a short presentation of their products and shared their experience in organizing internships and working with professional schools from the region.

Participants shared that the main difficulty in organizing WBL initiatives in Bulgaria is the fact that the partnerships between schools and companies are difficult to be established and maintained.

With regard to the video library and the SWOT platform for improving the contact between schools and companies and the management of internships all participants shared that it would be great to use such tools in the educational process.
The most positive comments came from students, who shared that it would be great to hear the feedback of other students who have already done an internship in a company in order to know what to expect and how to prepare.

Overall the feedback of participants about the project results was very positive. Most of the participants expressed their desire to be included in the project platform for virtual internships.

Multiplier Event - Final Conference of the SWOT Project

Location: Tragu Mures, Romania

A second Multiplier Event was organized in Târgu Mureș, Romania as a final conference to present the results of the intellectual products produced by the project to the target groups, involving trainers, teachers, companies and students, inviting participants and involving them in the discussion and reflections on how to improve learning experiences and to present them the 2 intelectual outputs of the project.

There were 43 representatives of companies in the eno-gastronomy and tourism sector, VET headteachers and teachers who teach tourism and gastronomy, representatives of public authorities and school inspectors.
After a presentation of the SWOT project we presented and debate the first and the second intelectual output for the promotion of Work Based Learning in eno-gastronomy and tourism sector;
some examples of video interviews were shown both as experiences of companies and as testimonials of direct experiences as well as students; some examples have also been illustrated with the Guidelines; evaluation forms were distributed for the Intellectual Outputs.

All in participants showed interest in the project and there was a commitment to join the platform and develop partnerships between school managers and companies.

Multiplier Event - National Conference in Spain

Date: 12 May 2019
Location: Valencia (Spain)

The conference was held in Valencia on 12/05/2019
25 participants took part in the event all of them representatives of VET Schools in the Valencian Region .

During the conference the speakers from Xano presented the Intellectual Outputs of the project – the video collection with didactic videos of students and company managers, guidelines for students, company managers, students, teachers and principals of vocational high schools, companies and decision-makers in the field of tourism, hospitality, eno-gastronomy.

Alberto Dominguez made a presentation about the beneficts of WBL initiatives in Europe and presented the Erasmus+ program to motivate the 12 VET participants schools in participating in the program

Lots of possitive comments about the project results, cooking and hospitality teachers will use the Project results in their lessons even they said that they will use the platform for improving the contact between schools and companies and the management of internships all participants even they think that its a good tool for the students that are interested in working abroad

SWOT Multiplier Event - National Conference in Cyprus

Date: 12 Apr 2019
Location: Famagusta, Cyprus

The Emphasys Centre organised in April 2019 a Multiplier Event to present the SWOT project Intellectual Outputs including a workshop to identify the challenges and perspectives of the target groups involved into the WBL opportunities:
a) VET Teachers (school)
b) VET Tutors (labour market)
c) VET Students.
61 participants attended the event among VET Students, VET Teachers and Companies VET Tutors

As part of the activity, students, tutors and teachers participated in the workshops where they were given the opportunity to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of work-based learning, and the necessity to bridge the gap between school education and the labour market for the benefits of the students-future employees. The participants had the opportunity to discuss further about the results which are presented below.

Moreover, the participants were greatly impressed with the results of the project and the potential of building a national network using the SWOT portal. They have also expressed their gratitude for contributed toward this effort and being part of this network.

SWOT Project at the Educational Fair of Cyprus 2018 “Education and Career”

The “Emphasys Centre” has participated in the International Educational Fair of Cyprus 2019 “Education and Career”, organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (ΟΕΒ) and the European Office of Cyprus (EOC), between 15 and 17 of February in Nicosia.

The International Education Fair of Cyprus is one of the biggest events organized in the field of education and training, as most of the participants are well-established organisations, higher education institutions and public-authorities.

The Fair is regarded as the gate where the representatives of the higher educational institutions meet and attract Cypriot and international students living in Cyprus and wish to study either locally or abroad. The Fair also hosts every year public services and semi-state bodies to inform the public and especially young people regarding potential career and employment opportunities. Furthermore, the Fair offers the opportunity to providers of services addressed to students and young people such as educational and career services to approach students and young people.

During the International Fair the project ‘SWOT’ was presented individually on a specific time and has attracted the attention of interested people.

The Emphasys team disseminated the project using all the relevant material that was designed for the needs of the fair, such as leaflets, banners, presentations, lists etc. It is important to note that a contact list in relation to the potential registration in the ‘SWOT’ platform was initiated which will be an ongoing activity until the end of the project which can be implemented by other partners as well.

Multiplier Event - First National Conference in Romania

The first Romanian National Multiplier Event was organized in Târgu Mureș as a focus group to present the results of the first intellectual product produced by the project to the target groups, involving trainers, teachers, companies and students, inviting participants and involving them in the discussion and reflections on how to improve learning experiences based on alternating school work and organizing internships, apprenticeships or alternating school and work at local, regional, national or transnational level in person or online.

There were 23 representatives of companies in the eno-gastronomy and tourism sector, VET headteachers and teachers who teach tourism and gastronomy.

The “Emphasys Centre” has participated in the International Educational Fair of Cyprus 2018 “Education and Career”, organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (ΟΕΒ) and the European Office of Cyprus (EOC), between the 23rd and 25th of February in Nicosia. During the International Fair the project ‘SWOT’ was presented individually on a specific time and has attracted the attention of interested people. The Emphasys team disseminated the project using all the relevant material that were designed for the needs of the fair, such as leaflets, banners, presentations, petition lists etc.

VET students, providers were greatly impressed by the project’s idea and initiative and those who showed interested, were also invited to participate in several activities planned for the next months.
